Bring your own nbn™ ready modem

Quick answer: If you’ve already got an nbn compatible modem that’s not locked to a particular network, you should be able to use it to connect it to Australia Broadband. You will however need to check your modem’s compatibility, as the exact specifications required will depend on the technology used to service your address.

Using your own modem with Australia Broadband

If you’ve already got an nbn compatible modem that’s not locked to a particular network, you should be able to use it to connect it to Australia Broadband. You will however need to check your modem’s compatibility, as the exact specifications required will depend on the technology used to service your address.

How to tell if your modem is ready to connect to Australia Broadband

You’ll need an nbn compatible modem that supports your nbn technology type and a PPPoE connection.

To check if your modem can be used with Australia Broadband, please cross reference these specifications with your modem device guide.

Once your Australia Broadband service has been activated, we’ll email you the configuration details for your connection so that you can set everything up.

Recommendation: Instead of bringing your own device, we recommend purchasing our D-Link 2800 nbn-ready modem when you sign up, as the modem will arrive pre-configured, allowing for an easy setup. It also means Australia Broadband will be able to provide you in depth troubleshooting later down the track, if required.
